Robben Ford On Mountain Stage
Loading the player ...Robben Ford makes his third appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown. Host Larry Groce is effusive in his praise: "If you see a list of the greatest guitar players of the last 50 years that doesn't include Robben Ford on it," he says, "be suspicious."
A native of northern California, Ford first made his name as a sideman for the likes of Charlie Musselwhite, Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Joni Mitchell; and he even contributed lead guitar to Kiss' Creatures of the Night. He was a founding member of the jazz outfit The Yellowjackets, where he stayed until 1983. Ford then spent most of the mid-1980s touring alongside jazz icon Miles Davis.
Ford has released several solo albums since, including his latest, Bringing It Back Home. He's joined here by Ricky Peterson on organ, David Piltch on bass, trombone player Emmitt Goods and drummer Tony Moore.
