Self-described as Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel, Yeasayer broke into mainstream consciousness after their debut at the 2007 SXSW festival. With funky beats, layers of synth, and plenty of flair, Yeasayer is often compared to other indie rockers TV on Radio, Grizzly Bear, and Animal Collective. Yet the Brooklyn foursome's international style demonstrates a wide shift into not-just-Western genres, giving them an accessible and fascinating feel. Their debut album, All Hour Cymbals, was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, and they returned to the studio at the beginning of 2009 to begin work on their sophomore album. The quartet recently announced a massive U.S. tour for the autumn.
