Raised in America's blues and soul heartland, Booker T. was a child prodigy in the Memphis music scene. Former frontman of Booker T. and the MGs, Booker T. got started young, finding a passion for music even before his teenage years. He released his first album, Green Onions, with Stax records while still in high school. Backed by Drive-By Truckers and Neil Young, he he released his first solo album in two decades, Potato Hole, in 2010. This May, he is set to release The Road from Memphis, joined by a broad range of guest vocalists, including members of The Roots, Matt Berninger of the National, Yim Yames of MMJ, and Sharon Jones, on Anti Records. This album is the result of his powerful musical journey born from the Mississippi, offering an eclectic mix of melodies and rhythms not to be missed.
Booker T. is a winner of a lifetime achievement Grammy and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
