Kasey Anderson, a Portland, Oregon native, leads his band the Honkies with a quiet confidence that can only be gained from years of overcoming adversity, hardship, and misfortune. In his songs he often writes about the directionless junkies, the battered soldiers, and the down-on-their-luck fixtures of bars and nightclubs that describe the singer's own life all too well. Basically, he has been through some rough times, which makes his recent successes that much sweeter. The Counting Crows covered his song "Like Teenage Gravity" as their lead single on their new album Underwater Sunshine, and the band liked it so much that they invited Kasey and the Honkies to open for them on their summer tour. And that is where you can find Kasey on July 22nd, opening for the Counting Crows on the main stage of the Susquehanna Bank Center. Looks like Kasey's days of misfortune are finally over.
