Blackberry Smoke plows through Philly

If you’re one of those people that’s upset about The Black Crowes breaking up, don’t worry. Blackberry Smoke’s got you. The blues-playin’, yee-hawin’ southern cats from Atlanta, Georgia strutted their stuff up North through Philly Friday, playing an intimate, stripped down set for XPN’s Free at Noon during lunchtime. But they plugged in their Les Pauls, raised some hell, and put the “Electric” in Electric Factory for the evening show.

The band opened with “Six Ways to Sunday,” the energizing first track off of BBS’s third album, The Whippoorwill, and kept the intensity at that level throughout the whole night (save for a point around the middle portion of the show, when the band stopped playing so security could break up a fist fight).

Other songs from the night included, new tracks like “Rock and Roll Again,” “Lay It All On Me,” and “Let Me Help You (Find the Door),” from the band’s latest release, Holding All the Roses. Other tracks included “Sanctified Woman,” “Ain’t Much Left of Me” and “Like I Am.”

If you missed the show, luckily for you Blackberry Smoke has a reputation for being on the road a lot. It likely won’t be long until their back in Philly. Check out photos from the show in the gallery below.
