March’s Artist To Watch is Ben Dickey.
Some of you might recall that Ben lived in Philly for a while, and was part of the local music scene here with his band Blood Feathers. They even played a Free At Noon in 2010 here.

Ben has got a couple things going on. In addition to his new album, Ben played the lead character, Blaze Foley, in a recent biopic directed by Ethan Hawke, based on the life of country musician Foley. Here’s the trailer.

The film debuted at SXSW last year, and featured Kris Kristofferson, Charlie Sexton and Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda Lee Segarra. At Sundance Film Fest in 2018, Dickey won the Special Jury Award for Achievement in Acting.

Ben’s new solo album, A Glimmer On The Outskirts, is out on March 8th. An excellent collection of rootsy rock songs, it was produced by Charlie Sexton. Ben plays the Ardmore Music Hall on April 4th.
