PRESS PLAY: New Albums out January 13th

After a short hibernation, PRESS PLAY is back for another year of new release roundups! The floodgates have already opened for 2023, with a number of favorites and upstarts making early plays for AOTY.

Following the publication of her memoir, Maybe We’ll Make It, Margo Price delivers her Laurel Canyon-inspired fourth album, Strays. Recorded during the same sessions as last spring’s A Bit of Previous, Belle and Sebastian‘s Late Developers is the long-running Scottish group’s electronic renaissance. Released on the artist-run Chimera Music label, Simulator is the thrilling debut from mutated pop trio UNI and the Urchins.

Philly’s Miri Devora takes a solo step away from Queen of Jeans on her debut EP, I Thought it Was Love. Scottish musician James Yorkston teams up with The Cardigans’ Nina Persson for The Great White Sea Eagle, a collection of richly orchestrate folk-pop. Though it came out last week, Iggy Pop‘s sludgy and sardonic EVERY LOSER has enough energy to keep raging throughout the year.
