Summer heats up with new releases from around the world (and our own backyard)
As usual, Philly is on a roll. Following last week’s breakout release by Florry, local mainstays Hurry deliver a stellar set of wistful power pop on Don’t Look Back. Brimming with bumping rhythms and choice collaborators, Volcano finds UK production duo Jungle in top shape. Face to Face is a generation- and border-crossing collab between glam-punk godmother Suzi Quatro and folk-rock disciple KT Tunstall.
On Public Image Ltd.‘s 11th album, End of World, John Lydon has lost none of his venom but has gained a surprising amount of tenderness. Surprise released overnight, Turnstile‘s hardcore punk and BADBADNOTGOOD‘s adventurous jazz collide on the three-song EP New Heart Designs. A throwback to the Motor Town Revue showcases of yore, Dan Auerbach and his cohorts strut their stuff on Tell Everybody! (21st Century Juke Joint Blues From Easy Eye Sound).
