Consider it the calm before the storm. The indie rock musician who’s just finishing up at NYU is going to deliver a fantastic performance: one that’s jagged yet warm and increasingly delighted the team as it went on.

Jadagu’s visiting World Cafe as she’s out supporting her debut album, Aperture. The legend goes she was signed before she graduated high school, but she points out it was shortly afterward. Still impressive, though.

In this session, Jadagu talks about her path to this current moment, from growing up in Mesquite, Texas, playing the marimba and competing in drumline to recording Aperture in Paris and finding her confidence in a studio environment.
