Monday 2/24: Fr33sol and Lavva at World Cafe Live

Rising Philly artists Fr33sol and Lavva team up at World Cafe Live on Monday, bringing hip-hop and soul together for a magical night of music. Fr33sol leans more in a rap direction; Lavva blends R&B and soul into the mix, and the two together will start the week off right in the Lounge. // 8 p.m., $40, AA – Jack Clark

Tuesday 2/25: The Moody Blues’ John Lodge at Keswick Theatre

Should you wish to see a psychedelic pop/rock trailblazer in an intimate space, head to The Keswick this Tuesday where John Lodge — the bassist, co-vocalist, and songwriter of orchestral Brits The Moody Blues — headlines in celebration of the 58th anniversary of their 1967 opus Days of Future Passed. // 8 p.m., $30 and up, AA – John Vettese

Wednesday 2/26: Pom Pom Squad at Ukie Club

Indie rockers Pom Pom Squad are back on tour for their punchy pop Mirror Starts Moving Without Me, and this time they’re at the independent Ukie Club, booked by local go-getters in 4333 Collective. This video shot by Philly’s Bob Sweeney on Super 8 shows just how glamorous and simultaneously punk-rock their live performances can be. Wednesday 2/26: Skinny Lister at MilkBoy

One of the most intriguing bands on this week’s concert picks, Skinny Lister’s music catches the eyes and ears of so many fans with folk-infused ensemble rock. Needless to say, MilkBoy will be jam packed Wednesday. Check out their top tracks “Trouble on Oxford Street,” “Rolling Over,” and “Wanted” to warm up for the show. // 8 p.m., $27.61, 21+ – J.C.

Thursday 2/27: Thievery Corporation at Franklin Music Hall

Electronic duo Thievery Corporation brought a vibrant show to Brooklyn Bowl Philly last year and now they’re back in a much bigger setting, Franklin Music Hall.  Active since the mid 90s, the band still connects with a global crowd, so if you’re in the need for some late-week vibes, this is the spot. // 8 p.m., $40, AA – J.C.

Thursday 2/27: Matt Nathanson at The Keswick Theatre

Equal parts singer-songwriter and raconteur, New England singer-songwriter and XPN fave Matt Nathanson brings his signature blend of catchy alt folk and witty banter to The Keswick this Thursday, supporting his fifteenth album, this year’s King Of (Un)Simple. Rachel Yamagata opens. // 7 p.m., $34.50, AA – J.V.

Thursday 2/27: Bilal at Mayo Performing Arts Center

Philly soul singer and songwriter Bilal has been making music for 25 years, and doesn’t look to stop anytime soon. The charismatic performer’s most recent record, Adjust Brightness, came out last year, followed by a concert recording called Live at Glasshaus. Now he’s back to play a regional show at North Jersey’s Mayo Performing Arts Center. // 7:30 p.m., $36 and up, AA – J.C.

Thursday 2/27: Benjamin Booker at Kung Fu Necktie

Starting from a rootsy blues rock basis a decade ago, Virginia artist Benjamin Booker is breaking new ground on this year’s spellbinding Lower, released just last month. The album dabbles heavily in simmering psychedelic and gripping modern rock, with heart-stopping electronic flourishes; we can’t wait to see Booker bring it to live on the Kung Fu Necktie stage this Thursday. // 7 p.m., $20, 21+ – J.V.

Thursday 2/27: Humilitarian at Johnny Brenda’s

They’ve been building their name steadily over the past six years on the scene, releasing solid projects and gigging in basements on college campuses around the east coast. Now Philly five-piece force Humilitarian have their debut full length finished and released into the world. Dynamic frontperson Kira Cappello’s is introspective and emotive on Intra, released last Friday, as the band’s intricate math-rock inspired playing backs her up, with moments reminiscent of Incubus and Paramore. Celebrate Intra with the band in their headlining Johnny Brenda’s release party this Thursday. // 8 p.m., $15, 21+ – J.V.

Friday 2/28: Father John Misty at The Fillmore Philly

The last couple of times Father John Misty came to Philly, he played the opulent Metropolitan Opera House on North Broad Street, and though the tickets were seated, everyone in-house was on their feet. That’s why this show at The Fillmore might seem more appropriate for the melodramatic rocker, who is giving fans their first live experience of Mahashmasha (the record repeated on many of our host’s Best Of 2024 lists), a “return-to-form” album for the artist best known for his gut-punching turns of phrase, romantic musings, and guitar-driven laments. // 8 p.m., $131 and up (verified resale), AA – P.W.

Friday 2/28: moe. at Brooklyn Bowl Philly

Jam scene favorites moe. have been kicking it since 1989, making lots of exciting music, entertaining crowds and consistently releasing new records. This week, on tour in support of their new Circle of Giants record, they’ll play Brooklyn Bowl Philly for two nights, beginning Friday. // 8 p.m., $53.40, 21+ – J.C.

Friday 2/28: Lime Cordiale at World Cafe Live

One of the best Australian groups around, Lime Cordiale are heading over to World Cafe Live to showcase their new release Enough of the Sweet Talk. The record is described by the band as a journey through a relationship — “the innocent early days, the learning, the love, the doubt, the conflict and the realisation of loss” — but even when somber, the energy Friday will be high. // 8 p.m., $32, AA – J.C.

Saturday 3/1: Caring Less at Ortlieb’s

One of our favorite local bands to follow (the group made our Homegrown Originals Volume 2 vinyl released last year) will be at Ortlieb’s for a fun Saturday night show. Their new single “Slow Down” comes out on Friday, so you’re sure to hear something new from the art rockers then. // 8:30 p.m., $12, 21+ – P.W.

Saturday 3/1: Donnie Coco at The Fallser Club

Folky, kaleidoscopic guitarist Donnie Coco is one of the exciting new projects to come out of Germantown home studio Office Ours (Sug Daniels, Rachel Andie). Make the trip to Philly’s The Fallser Club on the banks of the Schuylkill River for a starry evening out. // 8 p.m., $20, AA – P.W.

Sunday 3/2: Adrian Younge at Johnny Brenda’s

Jazz at Johnny Brenda’s? Yes, please. Younge’s speciality, mixing African rhythms and guitar with cinematic styling, will sound so good in the intimate, upstairs setting. Complete the picture with a stemmed cocktail in hand. // 8 p.m., $25, 21+ – P.W.

Sunday 3/2: Soft No at Ortlieb’s

An offshoot of the smoking Philly heavy shoegaze act Flatwaves — they share a member in multi-instrumentalist and singer Allie Lannutti — Soft No takes a more dreamscapey approach to our city’s spin on kaleidoscopic rock.
