PRESS PLAY: New Albums out March 28th
Step up to the plate for the last new releases of the month…
If you’re a PRESS PLAY regular, you might have noticed the often-exhaustive list of titles under the heading “FURTHER LISTENING.” I would strongly encourage you to check out some of this week’s honorable mentions, including stellar comebacks by Great Grandpa and Sacred Paws, a companion soundtrack to the latest Assassins Creed video game by Indie Rock Hit Parade/World Café veterans TEKE::TEKE, and a trio of mind-expanding reissues from the folks at International Anthem. On to the headliners…
Returning to her long-running group after almost a decade and a half, it feels like no time has passed on Alison Krauss & Union Station’s masterful eight album, Arcadia. Working with acclaimed producer Dave Cobb, Mumford & Sons’ Rushmere marks the start of a new chapter for the UK trio. On Forever is a Feeling, her first solo release since the full-length debut from boygenius, Lucy Dacus captures the romance and elegance of fine art in detailed songcraft. 35 years after he produced Galaxie 500’s swansong, Mark Kramer reunites with Dean Wareham for the tender and witty That’s the Price of Loving Me.
Virginia-rooted trio Palmyra deliver on the promise of their recent Free at Noon appearance on their full-length debut, Restless. On his 14th LP as Destroyer, Dan’s Boogie, Dan Bejar croons and seethes alongside Fiver’s Simone Schmidt and his former New Pornographers bandmate John Collins. Multidisciplinary artist Mike Hadreas presents the most ambitious Perfume Genius album yet; Glory seamlessly veers from brittle rockers to ethereal acoustics.
Listen for spotlights on new records like these (and more) every week on the XPN Morning Show and Indie Rock Hit Parade.
