Kevin Morby’s new album ‘Little Wide Open’ is a love letter to the Midwest, where he was raised and where he lived for the last several years. It’s a part of the country he finds endlessly inspiring.
“There’s something about the natural world in the Midwest that feels very musical to me,” he told Raina Douris.
On today’s World Cafe, Kevin and Raina talk about how the Midwest fuels his creativity – both the content of his songs, and the strength of his imagination.
He also talks about the mystery of fatherhood – something that was approaching for him very quickly when we recorded this interview.
“We [songwriter Katie Crutchfield and himself] have no idea what to actually expect or what it’s actually going to feel like until it happens. I think we just can’t wait to meet whoever this person’s gonna be.”
