New albums to check out this week — including Dehd, Wilco, Shaggy and more!
As we reach the end of another month (and the official unofficial start of summer), an assortment of new albums arrive to keep us company through the holiday weekend. Chicago trio Dehd present their fourth full-length, Blue Skies; a sharp and crackling distillation of their DIY pop mission. Wilco’s towering Cruel Country fuses the ambition and sprawl of Being There with the mature acoustics of Schmilco. Montreal indie favorites Stars return with their ninth LP, the incandescent From Capleton Hill. Bruce Hornsby continues his experimental renaissance on ‘Flicted, collaborating with members of Haim and Vampire Weekend.
Reggae-pop star Shaggy gives the Frank Sinatra songbook a playful makeover on Com Fly Wid Mi. Ohio songwriter Maria BC’s Hyaline is a confident and enchanting introduction to this classically trained mezzo-soprano.
