Today we’re featuring a mini-concert from SYML, the solo project of musician and producer Brian Fennell. For over a decade, Fennell was in the Seattle indie rock band Barcelona, but in 2019, he released his self-titled debut album as SMYL. His latest album is The Day My Father Died, and it features appearances from Lucius, Guy Garvey of Elbow, and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek. The record reflects on the death of Fennell’s adoptive father in 2021, and what we do after we lose someone we love.
